Makeup post!

I have been looking for a tinted lip moisturizer because all winter I've been plagued by chapped lips. I am so excited about this drug store product I a)bought every colour and b)am blogging about it.

My lips were just as the package claimed: better after just one use! Also, it has a lovely texture on the lips. I always try to wear lip colour if I wear no other makeup because it can really brighten up your face and take you from just rolled out of bed to at least somewhat put together. This neutrogena moisturizing lip balm is my new favorite staple. I dress it up with a darker lip liner for more formal makeup but it's nice on it's own as well.

You can thank me later 😉

Trend Alert!

Bet you didn't know I pay attention to make-up as well as hair! I have actually taken many master-level courses in make-up application, including "Makeup for the Mature Woman" which was amazing! In any case, I do have a make-up board on Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/lolainc/makeup/) in case you want to follow.. and I do categorize nail polish as make-up - although there are so many cool nail trends these days I am totally thinking of making a board all to that. This particular trend seemed really note-worthy because it's super easy.. paint the nail a bright color (I've also seen it done with a silver, and then a neutral pink over that - done at the Chanel shows this year) and put a neutral color on top leaving a bold outline. Don't you feel super hip now? Such simple things make me happy...

I will also take this opportunity to say that Tina at Glamour Nails on Aurora Ave has been my manicurist for a million years and now that I have moved away I don't get to see her that frequently - but if you are looking for a gem of a nail place, that's who I recommend! Tell Tina I said 'Hi!!'

Lipstick that really sticks!

Ok, so this is not a 'hair' post, but I feel that (observing my fellow Seattlites) we could all use a little insight into easy ways to step it up a notch once in a while. I think there are alot of people who could benefit from a bit of color and Revlon's Colorstay lipstick (comes in a tube with one end the color and the other end a gloss that goes over it and can be reapplied as needed) is the best long-wearing lipstick I have ever used, bar none. It actually does exactly what it says and stays on for hours and hours even after eating etc.

I am not as pleased with the colors available but so far have liked (and used again and again as sort of staple standby's) Everlasting Rum, Extreme Spice and Faithfully Fawn. (Fawn being my least favorite of the trio). I think the mulberry is ok - but a little too pink for my skin tone.. I think the Rum and the Spice might be universally good on everyone, especially the Rum. Spice might need a bit more olive in the complexion to be complementary.

Anyway - a one minute application of long-wearing lipstick in the morning can give you a more put together look, even if you don't wear any other make-up. And it's a drug store brand so the investment is minimal.

Go for it!
Have some fun with a touch of color this summer. It just makes you look a little more ALIVE.

Enjoy!
